Sales volume of new bicycles in the Netherlands 2015-2022, by type
As of 2022, a total of approximately 855,000 new bicycles were sold in the Netherlands, with sales dropping slightly for the second year in a row. Electric bicycles contributed most to the total sales volume, and the only growing category, with roughly 486,000 new bikes. They were followed by city bicycles, which contributed some 195,000 sales to the total.
