Per capita energy consumption averaged 21,039 kilowatt-hours worldwide in 2022. This was up from a pandemic induced slump in 2020. Economic activity is among the main determinants for energy use, whereas energy efficiency measures may also help reduce the energy footprint. Qatar has the highest per capita energy consumption of any country worldwide.
