Gross written premiums refer to the total revenue that an insurer expects to receive from contracts. It can be seen that almost 50 percent of the gross written premiums received by marine insurers in the Nordic countries in Europe in 2019 was for protection and indemnity insurance. Hull insurance accounted for approximately 44.3 percent of premiums.
