African countries with lowest access to clean cooking 2016-2020
Kingdom of Morocco had almost their entire population with access to clean cooking in the same year.
A report revealed that over three billion people in developing countries rely on coal and traditional biomass to meet their cooking energy needs. Heavy reliance on these, however, often results in exposure to indoor air pollution, which leads to premature deaths.
As of 2020, the African countries with the lowest share of the population having access to clean cooking fuels and cooking technology were Madagascar and Uganda, each with an access rate of one percent. These were followed by Niger, with a share of two percent.
