According to a survey conducted on the concerns regarding typhoons and heavy rainfall in Japan in October 2019, 54.5 percent of the respondents stated that they were concerned about wind gusts and tornados. 42.1 percent of the respondents mentioned that they were worried about the flooding of rivers. Typhoons develop over the Pacific Ocean and are likely to approach Japan between June and October every year. Since typhoons create heavy winds and rain, they can cause flooding, tidal surges and landslides.
