According to the study, the Brazilian cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro were found to have the most expensive public transport in Latin America, where the monthly cost for the service per month represented approximately 9.5 percent of a person's monthly average income. The Chilean capital of Santiago ranked third, where public transport spending amounted to over six percent of the average income.
