Respondents' support on sugar tax implementation by income bracket Singapore 2019
According to a survey conducted in Singapore in July 2019, around 47 percent of the respondents who earned more than 8,000 Singaporean dollars a month stated that they supported the implementation of a sugar tax. By comparison, 35 percent of the respondents who earned less than 4,000 Singaporean dollars were supportive of such a tax. In December 2018, the Singaporean Ministry of Health began a consultation exercise to seek the public's feedback on measures to fight diabetes, which included a ban on high-sugar packet drinks and the implementation of a sugar tax in Singapore.
