Installed capacity of biogas energy worldwide reached some 21.5 gigawatts in 2022. This was the peak from the period in consideration, and an increase of 2.4 percent from the previous year. Biogas is mixture of gases essentially derived from the anaerobic digestion process. It is mainly composed of methane, which has thermal properties that allow it to easily combust, as well as carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide.
